After the westerley gale of yesterday, today's pleasant weather brought out the wintering Woodlarks and Ring Ouzel. A Blackcap, female Sparrowhawk and cock Pheasant brought our year total to 67.

An hours seawatch in horrible weather produced 4 Red-throated Divers, 3 Great Crested Grebes, 5 Gannets, 5 Auks and an Arctic Skua.

14th

With much better weather today we had 47 Red-throated Divers, 11 Great Crested Grebes and 100+ Auks offshore, whilst over the Farm 3 of the local Common Buzzards circled on the thermals.

13th

In half an hour of seawatching we had 200+ Auks and 12 Red-throated Divers before we gave up because of the appalling weather.

4th

Few birds today apart from a Merlin chasing the local Linnet flock in the stubble field and a splendid Red Kite that flew north at 14.20

Our year list started with 48 species today, not a very good count, but we did have two that we have sometimes struggled to find in the past, Woodlark and Ring Ouzel.
