Friday 21st January 2005

At least 500 auks still offshore.

Saturday 15th January 2005

5 Red-throated Divers, 300 Guillemots and a single Razorbill were the only birds in a short seawatch in the morning.

Saturday 8th January 2005

A new bird for the area - a Barn Owl seen in the late afternoon near St Margaret's village.

Sunday 2nd January 2005

A 4-hour seawatch unfortunately did not reproduce yesterday's good fortune although a timed-count of 160 Guillemots up channel in 15 min's was quite impressive. This passage continued throughout the morning, so the passage was considerable. At least 30 Red-throated Divers offshore was the only other count of note.

Saturday 1st January 2005

A 2-hour seawatch at lunchtime gave a good start to the year with a least 500 Guillemots offshore,40+ Red-throated Divers moving up channel, together with a badly oiled Great Northern Diver just offshore and a 1st or 2nd winter GLAUCOUS GULL up channel at 1205. A HARBOUR PORPOISE surfaced on 3 occasions in the bay.
