Beautiful adult male Black Redstart at Monument

Short sea watch provided us with our first Sandwich Tern of the year plus a Bonxie and 226 Gannets moving upchannel.

Short-eared Owl in the Big Field

17th

A small number of Chaffinches and a single Alba and a Grey Wagtail flew into the cold south westerly wind. In the area were 2 Chiffchaffs and the 2 local Common Buzzards, whilst in the Bay we had a Harbour Porpoise.

12th

Only bird of note was a Common Buzzard flying south along the clifftop at 09.30hrs

10th

A small vis.mig. southwest of 3 Stock Doves, 1 Grey Wagtail, 3 Siskins and 3 Yellowhammers. In the area there were 2 Stonechats, 3 Chiffchaffs and 2 pairs of Great Spotted Woodpeckers displaying in Bert's Garden. Also a Small Tortoiseshell Butterfly on the clifftop.

8th

A beautiful sunny day produced a small movement north of Chaffinches, Alba Wagtails and a single Siskin. Our first Chiffchaff of the year was singing on the clifftop and a Short-eared Owl was flushed from the Big Field.

Also of note were 3 Peacock and 2 Brimstone Butterflies.

4th

In a light south-easterly we had our first movement of the year upchannel of

26 Red-throated Divers,19 Great Crested Grebes, 594 Brent Geese, 22 Common Scoters and a single Teal, whilst offshore the local pair if Peregrines chased pigeons.
