November 26th A seawatch produced very little apart from a flock of 15 Snow Buntings downchannel. 21st Woodlarks still in area 19th Still 5 Woodlark in the area 18th Only birds of note today were singles of Stonechat, Twite, Merlin and Sparrowhawk 13th The Woodlarks appear to be breeding, there are now 5 in the field 12th Only birds today were the Woodlarks, that have increased to 4, and a solitary Swallow that was feeding along the cliff-face 11th Winter has arrived,cold and very nearly birdless. Only migrants were 3 Woodlark in the 'Rare Bunting Field', 1 Swallow moving southwest and a Snow Bunting that has been around since 6th. 5th Only new birds of note were a Black Redstart in the farm and two adult Mediterranean Gulls offshore. 4th In brilliant sunshine and a light north westerly there was a gradual trickle of birds into the country, Skylarks, Corvids, Stock Doves, Starlings and [ 2 new birds for the year ] a Twite and and a ringtail Hen Harrier. Around the area were 1 Chiffchaff, 2 Blackcaps, 12 Goldcrests, 5 Stonechats, 7 Brambling, 1 Woodcock, 110+ Blackbirds, 40 Song Thrushes and 2 Fieldfares. Still good numbers of butterflies; Clouded Yellow, Painted Lady, Red Admiral and Small White. Also many Silver Y Moths. This Little Auk was drifting south past Kingsdown in the afternoon:
3rd More sea-watching continued the previous days trend with further Little Auks - 6 north, 2 south; together with 1 Eider, 1 Black-throated Diver, 67 Common Scoter, 1 Teal, 10 Shelduck and 12 Brent Geese. Two Short-eared Owls were watched coming in off the sea, as were 284 Starlings and 1 Sparrowhawk. Blackbirds were again numerous with 80 in the area, together with 2 Tree Sparrows, 1 Chiffchaff and 7 Redpolls.
2nd An hour and a half sea-watch this morning in a fresh northerly produced the following, all moving north: 221 Brent Geese, 17 Gannets, 17 Shelduck, 44 Common Scoter, 1 Red-throated Diver, 6 Little Auks and a Grey Phalarope, the latter new for the area. A further two hours later in the day produced more of the same with a further 27 Brent Geese, 16 Shelduck, 3 Greylag Geese, 7 Little Auks, plus 1 on the sea, together with a Slavonian Grebe (another new bird for the area). In the area there were an number of thrushes, with Blackbird being the most numerous, together with 4 Woodcocks, plus 2 in off the sea.
