HIGHLIGHTS OF THE MONTH

 

Red-throated Diver
seen daily from the 23rd until the end of the month
Ring-necked Duck
a female seen daily throughout the month.
Ruddy Duck
a female seen on the 5th, 11th and 15th .
Mandarin
considerable numbers seen with a peak number of 60 on the 21st .
Egyptian Goose
one seen on the 15th.
Buzzard 
this has now become the most numerous species of raptor at Bough Beech. During the month the peak number was 10 in the sky at the same time on the 15th.
Peregrine
one seen on the 4th.
Snipe
seen throughout the month with a peak number of 23 flushed from the Oast field on the 28th.
Little Gull
an adult was seen on the 5th.

WATER LEVEL

 

The Water company maintained the level at or about toplevel for the whole of the month

 

HIGHLIGHTS OF THE MONTH

 

Red-throated Diver The bird which arrived in January stayed until the 23rd .
Ring-necked Duck The female first reported on the 10th December 2006 remained for the whole of the month.
Little Egret One was frequently seen going to roost in Winkhurst Wood near the Heron colony.
Goldeneye 2 females seen on the 21st.
Goosander Up to 8 birds seen throughout the month.
Ruddy Duck A female seen on the 26th.
Buzzard Up to 9 seen frequently
Snipe Up to 5 seen regularly by the west bank of the North Lake.
Green Sandpiper

One continues to over-winter near the Dam.

Chiffchaff 2 birds seen frequently near the Causeway.

HIGHLIGHTS FOR THE MONTH.

 

Little Egret 1 seen on the 2nd and 27th this bird is thought to be roosting in Winkhurst Wood.
Shelduck

Seen regularly with a peak number of 30 on the 14th.

Ring-necked Duck The female first reported on the 10th December 2006 continued to associate with Tufted Duck for the whole of the month.
Ruddy Duck

The female seen intermittently since early January was seen on the 17th and 27th .

Marsh Harrier 3 seen flying over on the 7th.
Peregrine 3 were seen on the 2nd.
Woodcock 2 were seen on the 22nd with singles on the 23rd and 27th .
Curlew 1 was seen on the 7th.
Sand Martin 1 seen on the 19th with a peak number of 30 on the 30th and 31st.
Swallow  1 was seen on the 29th and 2 on the 31st
Rock Pipit     1 was reported on the 16th .
Siskin 15 seen the 19th and 12 on the 20th .
Redpoll 1 seen on the 19th and 2 on the 30th .
