The nestbox monitoring team produced the following figures:-

It is thought that the large discrepancy between eggs laid and young fledged in both the above tables may be due to the activities of the Tawny Owls.

Other breeding activity was as follows:-

Little Grebe 1 pair bred and produced 1 or 2 young.
Great Crested Grebe 4 pairs nested and produced 8 young.
Grey Heron There were 25 occupied nests this year a considerably greater number than previously
Cetti's Warbler A pair probably nested close to the road at the Oasthouse end of the Causeway
Common Tern At least 6 pairs nested, and produced 8 or 9 young.
Nightingale Although only occasionally seen or heard it is likely that 4 pairs nested.
