HIGHLIGHTS OF THE MONTH.

Scaup Single birds reported on the 8th and 17th.
Red-breasted Merganser A female seen on the 16th.
Marsh Harrier A female seen on the20th.
Hen Harrier A female seen on the 15th.
Montagu's Harrier A female seen on the 20th.
Osprey One seen flying northon the 4th.
Red-footed Falcon A male seen on the 29th, if accepted this will be a new bird for Bough Beech.
Hobby Single birds seen on most days from the 20th onwards.
Little Ringed Plover Single birds seen on the 10th and 21st.
Ringed Plover One seen on the 4th.
Dunlin Single birds seen on the 16th and 27th.
Bar-tailed Godwit Two seen on the 29th.
Whimbrel 8 seen on the17th, 2 on the 19th, 14 on the 20th, 3 on the 23rd, 2 on the 27th and 1 on the 28th.
Greenshank Single birds seen on the 16th and 18th.
Common Sandpiper 3 seen on the 12th, 1 on the 16th and 3 on the 25th.
LittleGull 8 adult birds seen on the 16th.
Common Tern Up to 10seen daily from the 16th onwards.
Arctic Tern A single bird seen from the 18th to the 22nd.
Black Tern 2 seen on the 29th.
Turtle Dove 1 seen on the 20th.
Cuckoo 1 or 2 reported from the 12th onwards.
Swift Single birds seen from the 27th onwards.
House Martin Up to 80 seen on most days from the 4th onward.
Yellow Wagtail Single birds seen on the 8th, 16th and 17th.
White Wagtail 1 seen on the 25th
Nightingale 1 or 2 present from the 8th onwards mostly identified by sound in bushes near the gate to the North Lake.
Redstart A male seen on the 8th.
Sedge Warbler 1 reported on the 25th.
Reed Warbler 1 or 2 seen, or heard, from the 12th onwards.
Lesser Whitethroat Single birds seen on the 28th and 30th.
Garden Warbler Up to 3 seen from the 14th onwards.
[Gyr Falcon] A Gyr, or possibly a Saker, Falcon seen on the 4th. This was possibly 1 that had escaped in Kent.  Jessys could be clearly seen.

HIGHLIGHTS OF THE MONTH

Honey Buzzard 1 seen on the 29th circling over North Lake around 12.30 before flying off to the North
Red Kite Single birds seen on the 2nd, 12th and 25th.
Sanderling 1 seen on the Dam on the 2nd.(see above photograph)
Redshank Single birdfs seen on the 11th and the 26th
Common Tern Seen all monthwith Whiteside Island the subject of a dispute with Cormortants with the Terns being victors by sheer weight of numbers.

During the month the water level fell from 211' 3"(2' below top level) to 209'(2' 4" below top level)

HIGHLIGHTS OF THE MONTH

Egyptian Goose 1 or 2 seen on 8 days in the month.
Red Kite 1 seen on th 7th, 8th and 13th.
Osprey 1 seen on the 10th.
Little Ringed Plover 1 or 2 seen on6 days with 4 on the 17th and 3 on the 23rd.
Curlew 1 seen on the 21st and the 27th.
Common Tern The breeding colony had 9 nesting pairs from which at least 4 juveniles now present - it is not easy to count young as they hide in the tunnels except when food is brought by their parents.
Little Tern 2 seen on the 22nd.
Black Tern 1 seen on the 13th.
Lesser Spotted Woodpecker 1 seen on the 15th and 17th close to the Causeway.
Crossbill 14 reported on the 12th, 2 on the 23rd and 10 on the 24th.
