By reading nature's clues we can discover a wealth of winter wildlife around the reserve. We will spend some time investigating owl pellets!

In conjunction with Kent's Coastal Week. Come and find out how and why birds use this special stretch of Kent's coast as a migration group stop off point on their journeys to and from Europe in the autumn, We will explore migration through games, art and a visit to our wildlife hides. Binoculars are supplied. Please dress warmly as Dungeness can be cold at this time of year. RSPB Wildlife Explorers £2, non-members £3, accompanying adults free.

Feed the Birds Day and Homes for Wildlife - family event
Saturday 25, 10.30am-3.30pm
Join us in the classroom to make wildlife feasts to keep your birds fit and healthy through the colder months. Then take a short stroll on our Homes for Wildlife trail to find out how to make your garden friendlier for all wildlife. Activities are free but donation for materials appreciated.

NOVEMBER 2008

Bird migration

In conjunction with Kent's Coastal Week. Join one of our expert guides to find out which birds migrate to and from this part of Kent's coast as we stroll round the RSPB's Dungeness nature trail.

A handfull of bitterns usually spend the winter at Dungeness - come along and help us find them!

Christmas shopping special (includes optical demonstration)

Why not escape the crowded high street and do your Christmas shopping at the reserve? Our bird shop will be full of Christmas cards, calendars, gifts and a wide range of binoculars and telescopes.

Entry to the visitor centre is free.

Enjoy a galss of mulled wine and ahomemade mince pie whilst you shop. Our bird shop will be full of Christmas cards, calendars and gifts.

Winter arrivals guided walk

On this walk we will be concentrating particularly on the wide variety of water birds that spend the winter at Dungeness. Shovelers, goldneeyes and smew are just some of the species that should be seen.

Join our field teachers to find some of our winter visitors and then spend some time working on crafts inspired by our finds. Equipment, materials and supervision provided. Children must be accompnaied by ab adult. Costs: Wildlife Explorer members £2 per session, non-members £3 per session
