Caspian Gull ©  Richard Bonser

7th January 2007

Seen on the 7th January and the 10th February.

Identification:

  • Long and extremely slender bill.  Bill was so slender, that we did wonder if it was deformed
  • Mainly white underwing, especially the greater coverts
  • Long, sloping forehead.
  • Very long legs;  especially thin on this bird.
  • Grey 'shawl'
  • Typical Tertial pattern for 2nd winter Caspian
  • Chocolate brown centred upper wing coverts
  • White fringes to greater coverts formed an obvious wing-bar.
