Guidelines for submitting photographs. The Photo Gallery is changing its format very shortly and we will try to incorporate the very best photographs of all species photographed in Kent. Please
send all photos by email copying to both Marc Heath and Steve Ashton at: Details of the forthcoming changes to the KOS website can be found by clicking here. Ideally,
if you could crop the image size to 450x320 pixels (landscape) or 320x450
pixels (portrait) it would save us time. When saving the image please
save as a .jpg (JPEG) file and if you are using Photoshop, or similar,
when asked to choose quality setting please choose 3 out of 12. Alternatively
use the "save for web" option and insert the appropriate image
size in the relevant fields. This will greatly reduce the size of the
file and thus expedite connection/download time. If you are unsure as
to how to do this please contact either Steve or Marc
who will be happy to help. Please add the year at the end of your photo's name and please try to avoid using any punctuation when creating your file name as well as inserting spaces between the digits. i.e. bonapartesgull108.jpg is good whereas bonaparte's gull-1.08jpg could cause problems. Generally we will not use photos of birds on the nest, their eggs or nestlings. Nor will we publish photos of scarce breeding birds in suitable habitat where we deem publication of such photos could jeopardise their success. All pictures will be fully credited and usual copyright laws apply. If you have your own website and would like us to add it to our links page then please let us know. We aim to upload any pictures on the same day as they are received. Obviously publication of photographs on the website does not constitute acceptance by the committees deemed appropriate. |
