The Kent List, Rarity Dates and Photo Archive
The systematic sequence of this list follows that recommended by the BOU (Oct. 2002). The familiar start of the British List, with Divers, Grebes, etc., has been changed so that Anseriformes (Swans, Geese and Ducks) and Galliformes (Grouse and Pheasants) begin the List.
This list contains the accepted species of birds published by the BBRC and KOSRP in Kent.
News from the BBRC is that the Dungeness Desert Finch, Rhodospiza obsoleta, has now been accepted, and is with the BOURC for catagorizing.
The recent Dungeness White-tailed Plover, Vanellus leucurus, has been accepted by the BBRC (see list below for details and photo links), and thus the current Kent List now stands at 415 species.
Records of rare and scarce species which have been accepted by the KOSRP and BBRC are highlighted, with a link provided to view those records.

If a camera icon appears beside a species' name below then at least one photo exists of that species taken in the county. If it's a rarity the species name is underlined. Click on the camera icon. You will then be taken to a sightings list of that species. Then again, look for a camera icon which will be beside each individual of which we have a photo.
If the species is not a rarity, when you click on the camera icon you will be directed to a page containing the very best photographs of the species taken in the county.
