Sevenoaks Wildlife Reserve Flora and Fauna

Sevenoaks Wildlife Reserve is also a haven for many other species.

May 2010:

Common spotted and twayblade orchids are starting to show.

A search for dragonfly and damselfly exuviae on Friday 14th May 2010

revealed an exuvia of the downy emerald dragonfly as well as a red-eyed damselfy and a male and female azure damselflies emerging.

June 2010:

A variety of orchids can be seen on the reserve this month, species currenly in flower include, common spotted orchid, bee orchid, twayblade these orchids occur on our meadows and we ask all visitors to keep to the path and admire these delicate flowers using binoculars.

The southern marsh orchid is also in flower and can be seen only from Sutton Hide with binoculars. Dragonflies and damseflies are here in abundance, species recorded this month include;

Damselflies: Azure, Common blue, Blue-tailed, Red-eyed, Banded demoiselle and Large red. 

Dragonflies: Emperor, Downiy emerald, Black-tailed skimmer and Four-spotted chaser.
