November 2005
19th November From dawn until 09:30 there was a small movement north of 5 Lapwings, 12 Golden Plovers, 216 Woodpigeons, 5 Bramblings, 2 Bullfinches, 9 Siskins, 8 Redpolls and 1 Snow Bunting. On the sea 21 Red-throated Divers and 9 Auk sp. fed offshore. 17th November Between 10:00 - 11:00 515 Blackbirds and 216 Fieldfares came across the channel and flew north west. No other birds noted around the area. 13 November In a cold north westerley there was a small movement north of 22 Chaffinches, 13 Brambling, 12 Greenfinches, 25 Siskins, 9 Crossbills, 3 Bullfinches, 1 Snow Bunting, 3 Yellowhammers and 4 Reed Buntings, whilst 748 Starlings flew in from the sea. Elsewhere in the area were 2 Peregrines,10 Grey Partridges, 1 Stonechat and 6 Goldcrests. 12 November A very quiet day--- on a seawatch from 08:00 to 10:00 there were 3 Red-throated Divers, 1 Great-crested Grebe, 47 Gannets, 15 Common Scoters, 3 Shelducks, 1 Red-breasted Merganser, 2 Curlew, 1 Turnstone and 17 Oystercatchers and on the clifftop were 65 Skylark, 1 House Martin, 1 Chiffchaff, 1 Crossbill and 22 Bullfinches 6th November In five hours of seawatching from 08.00 hrs there were, downchannel, 4 Red-throated Divers, 2 Great-crested Grebes, 2 Sooty Shearwaters, 3 Leach's Petrels, 3 Common Scoters, 1 Arctic and 2 Great Skuas and 9 Little Gulls. Going upchannel were 3 Grey Plovers and 1 Common Tern, offshore were 11 Auks whilst 614 Starlings came in from the east. 5th November Vis. mig. on the clifftop was quite good with a movement south west of 5 Swallows, 7 House Martins, 92 Bramblings, 15 Redpolls, 5 Siskins, 15 Greenfinches, 21 Chaffinches, 5 Bullfinches, 236 Stock Doves, 162 woodpigeons, 30 Skylarks and 2 Yellowhammers. 6 Whooper Swans [2adults and 4juveniles] flew downchannel at 07.20hrs and in the area were 4 Stonechats, 1 Black Redstart, 1 Ring Ouzel and10 Goldcrests. Also good numbers of butterflies with 3 Painted Ladies, 11 Red Admirals and 1 Peacock 4th November On the first sunny day of the month there were 50 Stock Doves, 3 Ring Ouzels, 5 Chiffchaffs, 15 Goldcrests, 12 Brambling, 5 Bullfinches and 20 Redpoll in the area. In the Paddock was a Woodlark giving excellent views as it fed in the short grass |
