Oare Marshes (05:15 to 10:00) Warm and sunny again with a gentle and pleasant NE breeze picking up. Temp. up to 24C. LT circa 06:30. With RM and SC. At least 15 migrant Red Kites flew W during morning. [Murray Wright]  Map

Egyptian Goose (pair with their remaining two well grown goslings on EF still), 2 Tufted Duck (pair on EF), 2 Cuckoo (pair - with both still vocal), 6 Turtle Dove (great sight to see six flying around together just W of the cottages, with presumably two of the same birds 'purring' from the weathervane and telephone poles - 'biggest' Spring flock I've seen here), 5 Moorhen (pair with three small chicks in DD), 5 Whimbrel (late birds on HS), 1 Bar-tailed Godwit (with Blackwits on EF), 260 Black-tailed Godwit (on EF), 4 Common Tern (one of EF and three along Swale), 1 Cattle Egret (on EF first thing then flew S), 1 Sparrowhawk (over), 1 Hobby (over), 2 Lesser Whitethroat (males), 2 Stonechat (juvs. in UC presumably hatched nearby), 3 Yellow Wagtail, 1 Corn Bunting (singing UC)
